Indonesia is one of the producers of
agricultural products are not inferior to other countries. However, Indonesia
still importing agricultural products from other countries, for example rice.
Indonesia still importing rice from other countries, like Thailand, Philippines
and Vietnam. One reason is the lack of farmers in Indonesia. It happened
because the farmers in Indonesia are usually filled by old man, while the youth
tend to work in companies in other fields such as industry, advertising,
software house, and others. Indonesia is a country that has a lot of potential
land for farming but not utilized and managed properly.
The real solution that can be done to
reduce the import of agricultural products from other countries is to increase
farmers in Indonesia with younger who are already equipped with the knowledge
about agriculture. Young farmers must be able to use advanced technology to
increase agricultural output. Farmers should also be appreciated as much as
possible from the government so that they continue to work in agriculture and
do not move to another field. It would also require cooperation between the
government and farmers to agricultural outcomes so that in the future Indonesia
could stop the import of agricultural products and become one of the country's
largest exporter of agricultural products in the world.
